William’s Farm Kitchen Wins Deliciouslyorkshire’s Top Retail Award!
William’s Farm Kitchen took top honours at the Deliciouslyorkshire Awards by winning Best Retailer of Local Produce.
The shop beat stiff competition from the likes of supermarket giant ASDA as well as the established Harrogate food hall Fodder. The shop was praised by Deliciouslyorkshire judges as offering a great range of value for money local produce.
Mark Farnsworth, 34, opened the shop just 6 months ago, which is named after his son William in the Hornsea Freeport Centre in the popular seaside holiday spot. Mr. Farnsworth worked as brand manager for KitKat at Nestle in York before his enthusiasm for farm-fresh food got the better of him.
Mark Farnsworth, who grew up in Foston-on-the-Wolds said: “I’m delighted and humbled to win the award in the face of such stiff competition, it’s been a real team effort and huge credit goes to all the staff. We opened in such uncertain economic times but I knew that if we could focus on offering good quality local produce at great value then we knew we stood a chance. We’ve kept a really close eye on costs and tailored our offering to meet the demands of both the holiday market and local residents”
“I’d say the future is bright for local retailing, people will support local retailers providing you look after your customers by offering great value product and great service. With people on tighter budgets at the moment then focusing on value remains the key focus for us” said Farnsworth.
